Hey HP!

We are inching closer to the big C-mas! I hope any of you that are Jewish had a very Happy Hanukkah! I did my Holiday Show this past Sunday and I included all holidays that have music (I don’t discriminate)!

I liked most of the Saving Abel songs that have been in the jukebox lately. Cee-Lo (and his music) still hasn’t kept my attention. I’m not saying he isn’t good – just not my cup of tea. I liked David Guetta’s song with Rihanna, “Who’s That Chick,” and I liked the hidden song contest song, Jason Castro “Wait (For A Miracle)”. I also liked Jason’s song, “Changing Colors”.

I pretty much like anything that has ever hit the jukebox by Rihanna, Usher’s songs are starting to sound very similar. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you about some of my favorite songs in the jukebox this week; but I will bring them up first next week!

I didn’t like the Fitz and the Tantrums song, “Money Grabber”. Vampire Weekend’s “Holiday” was alright; but I don’t see it as a big hit (in fact it isn’t). I didn’t nominate any songs for the hidden song contest last week; so I don’t even have a music-related side note for you :(.

I can say that I saw “Burlesque” over the weekend and it is AWESOME! I am planning on writing blogs the next two weeks; but that could change from holiday plans. If I don’t end up writing some blogs for the rest of 2010 and you miss me, you can always tune into my shows! I do shows every Friday and Sunday (unless it’s a Holiday, like Christmas Eve for instance) at 9 p.m. EST. You can also tune into DJ Melismatic on Wednesdays (and possibly Thursdays too, eventually). My annual Top 50 is on the 26th of December and the contest is open until next Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. EST. Get those guesses in for the chance to win an Amazon Gift Card! Check our website for details!

Hidden song contest winners!

Standard

Thanks to everyone that participated in this week’s hidden song contest! We think you’ll find it was worth the effort, as we are offering double the points this week for all songs reported in. Hopefully this will help you earn the bonus points you need for some holiday presents!

That little incentive got most of you looking hard this week, and it paid off! Almost everyone found the three hidden songs which were Brendan James’ “The Lucky Ones,”  “One Day” by Sharon Van Etten, and Jason Castro’s “Wait for a Miracle.” A big thanks goes to HitPredictor members beauty57, sweetness_20011, and Rachel2 who sent in the nominations!

As we noted, each track correctly reported by a HitPredictor member by the 3 p.m. deadline today (Thursday, Dec. 9) earned a 50-point reward (double the normal!) and an entry into each song’s drawing for 500 (double the normal) additional bonus points!

And, the winners of the 500 bonus points drawings this week were HitPredictor members azabuey, Musicfan4ever, and Ragchuck. Congratulations!

Make sure you check back tomorrow to see what else (besides the three hidden songs) our members have suggested for the jukebox that we thought DID deserve some jukebox time – we will have an additional four tracks picked by our members ready for you to rate tomorrow morning! So make sure to check back and find out what the new songs will be, and give us your feedback on them! After all, these tracks were nominated because someone out there thought they had the potential to be a hit, and we want to know if you agree!

Let’s get ready for the next contest – which (remember) won’t be until later this month! We still need your nominations though, and remember, if we use your song, whether it’s in the hidden song contest, or add it to the jukebox as a members’ pick just because we want to test whether it has hit potential, you will earn a 25-point reward! So, keeping that in mind what do you think deserves some jukebox time? A new track from your favorite artist or something you heard in passing on the radio? You can submit your suggestions here on our Facebook page, or e-mail me directly at maijaliisa [at] hitpredictor.com!

Please submit your top two picks only and make them the best ones you know!

DJ Lilly’s picks and predictions!

Standard

Hey HP!

I actually have a real blog for you this week! J First off, I didn’t like the newest collaboration between Nelly and Kelly – they did record “Dilemma” together, right? I listened to “Gone” and wondered what the heck was on my speakers. What a difference 8 years can make – yikes!

On the “OK” list this week, we have Cody Simpson’s “iYiYi” – he sounds Justin Bieber-esque; but I didn’t really care for the song itself. I might like him on another song later on though. I thought “Burn” by Papa Roach, Alter Bridge’s “Isolation”, Trust Company’s “Heart In My Hands”, Jason Castro’s “Changing Colors”, Goo Goo Dolls’ “Not Broken”, and Emily Osment’s “Lovesick” were all OK songs too. (The two best songs, out of the above, being Trust Company and Goo Goo Dolls). I see all of these songs getting a fair amount of airplay on radio stations across the globe.

On the “good” list this week, we have Katie Armiger’s ‘Best Song Ever”, Filter’s “No Love”, Hell Yeah’s “Better Man”, and Justin Bieber’s (surprisingly) acoustic version of “That Should Be Me”. Each of these songs have either a good beat, well written lyrics, or both.

On my list of favorites this week: Rihanna and Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie (Part 2)” – I still like the original better; but it is nice to have the other point of view and see a little softer side of Eminem J. Christina Aguilera’s “Express” – besides her epic Bionic FAIL, she is still one of my favorite singers and she reminds us why on this track. She is AMAZING. Dave Barnes’ (ft. Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum) “Christmas Tonight” – it’s a great song and really puts you in the Christmas/Holiday Spirit. (Also, Jennifer Love Hewitt is in the music video and I am a HUGE fan of hers). Seriously though, all these of these songs were awesome, in their own way, and at least two of them will be on my Top 50 list!

This coming Sunday (at 9 p.m. EST) is My Annual Holiday Show – come celebrate the Holidays with ME! Two weeks from that show will be the Top 50! Be there when I count down my favorite songs of 2010 and see who stops by to say hi! As always, thanks for reading my blogs, I really appreciate the support and I hope to see you all tuned into the station someday soon!

Unsigned and unknown catch Nina’s attention this week!

Standard

Guest blogger and HitPredictor member Nina C. reports on the new music finds and what she liked and didn’t like in the jukebox each week atHitPredictor. Many of these songs are still available so make check them out and let us know whether you agree or disagree! And, make sure you check out Nina’s other blog, TwilightNera’s Entertainment Hotspot for other news in the entertainment world and make sure to check out the freebie giveaway she’s got going on over there right now!

This was pretty solid week here at HitPredictor. I certainly liked more music this week than I did last week.  My favorite artist this week was an unsigned artist that needs to be signed immediately: Adam Watts.  His voice is strong, genuine and clear.  In his song “When Everything Else is Gone” the lyrics are catchy and well written. His voice reminds me of what singing really sounds like without synthesizers and over-done drum beats. I haven’t heard many songs by Jason Castro that I liked.  His music is usually to poppy sweet for me but I thought “You Are” was a strong and sweet love song. I was disappointed by Pink’s new single “Raise your Glass.” There is just nothing about this song that makes me want to listen to the rest of the album and that is what a first single should do.  I’ve been a fan of Pink for many years now so I really do hope her other songs are more engaging.

I really enjoyed “The First Time” by Script. It felt like a good solid rock song. I’m not a steady fan of all their music but they definitely turn in some great rock music. “One by One” by Tiffany Dunn was really catchy and had a great dance beat. There was another mysterious artist this week in the jukebox. I really enjoyed the songs “Like a Wave,” “Unfinished” and “One More Night”; the person singing really has a good voice. The music is great pop – it’s strong pop without being too sappy. I’d like to fit a name with these songs and I hope to hear more from him. Nicki Minaj’s “Right Thru Me” was a fun and memorable song. I know her voice can be annoying sometimes but she’s my guilty pleasure in music. “Your Beating Heart” by Brendan James was a haunting and beautiful love song. Sara Bareilles has some of the most natural music around right now. Her lyrics are always well written and the music is always good. “Not Alone” is a great follow up to “King of Everything.” My only really negative review for the week was “Speak Now” by Taylor Swift her music really does not impress me because it all sounds the same.

So what were your favorite songs this week and what did you think were the worst songs this week? Let me know and have a great week :)

I realized the other day that I never really tell you anything about myself. All you really need to know is that I am old enough to have grown up with boy bands blasting out of my stereo and young enough not to be blasting Neil Diamond or Wham; and that I am a huge fan of Christina Aguilera, Nick Lachey, TLC, Lacuna Coil, and Kelly Clarkson. My fave singer, since I was a kid, has been Shanice and I even got to meet her when I was 15 (along with Martina McBride and Olivia Newton-John). I also have mentioned in past blogs that I love Rihanna!

So I noticed that I have been kinda negative in my reviews lately, (mostly because I didn’t like the songs that were in the jukebox) but most of my reviews this week were positive (uh oh). I liked the Kelsey Rey songs that were in the jukebox last week, and I liked the “No Artist” songs that were in the jukebox this week as well. I have no idea who it is; but I am thinking they are boy-band related. I liked the Adam Watts and Yearling songs that were in the jukebox too. I also liked “You Are”, by Jason Castro and “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. I actually saw a tweet, by Ashley Tisdale from earlier today (Monday, Oct. 11), saying that she loves that song. I think Pink has another hit song on her hands.

It was nice to hear Five Finger Death Punch in the jukebox, we need more hard rock in there (except it wasn’t too hard this week). I have never really cared for Cake and their new single, “Sick Of You” still didn’t make me a fan. I really liked Matisse and Akon’s song “Better Than Her” that was in the jukebox last week. I thought “Not Alone” by Sara Bareilles was OK, give it some time to grow on me.

My favorite song of the week goes to “Desperate Boys and Stupid Girls” by Kimberly Caldwell. She did a cover of an Alana Grace (who is a good friend of mine) song earlier this year and I didn’t really like it (great song; but it just didn’t go well with her voice and it was hard for me to like an Alana song, not being sung by Alana-lol). I think this song is really good though (because boys can be desperate and girls can be stupid) and I hope it becomes a radio hit!

What song in the jukebox do you want to become a radio hit? Shoot me an e-mail and let me know! You can also write me with any other song you want my opinion on – I love hearing from you guys! Also, stop by the station’s website and show your support for the best radio station on the net! You can tune in to our DJs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9 p.m. Eastern! We are huge supporters of HitPredictor too! See you next week, where I will have plenty more to say and more songs to rate! – DJ Lilly, Owner of Resolution Radio (hewitt_fanatic@musician.org)

Some members think these tracks have hit potential – do you agree?

Standard

Because of all the excellent nominations this week, we have just loaded five new tracks picked by our members to the jukebox this morning! Among the artists we want your feedback on are Sara Bareilles, Jason Castro, LoCash Cowboys, FFH, and Brendan James. So check these tracks out and let us know whether you think any of these picks from our members have hit potential!

Fresh off her new album Kalediscope Heart is Sara Bareilles’ “Not Alone,” a track nominated by HitPredictor member trevorstrain269. Do you think this bluesy, soulful track has the potential to be a radio hit? Some reviewers have said this track has the best vocals of the entire album, and no doubt demonstrates Bareilles’ true, raw talent. What do you think? Let us know with your vote at HitPredictor!

American Idol alum Jason Castro is coming out with a Christian album called Who I Am on Nov. 9. Who I Am is a new version of Castro’s debut album with four brand new songs which he described as his “love songs to God.” One of the new tracks is the album’s first single “You Are,” which was nominated by HitPredictor members xvintagehearts and Rachel 2. We want to know if you think this track has hit potential!

“Keep In Mind” is the newest single from LoCash Cowboys, which HitPredictor member MARTHAM submitted for consideration. This powerful soul-moving ballad about a parent’s loving and reluctant farewell to children anxious to venture off into the world has a powerful message and wonderful harmony – but do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!

The former Four For Harmony has come back from a two-year hiatus as FFH and has just released a new track “Undone,” which HitPredictor member musiclover8603 thinks has hit potential! Earlier this summer “Undone” blasted onto the Billboard Hot Christian songs chart, but still hasn’t registered much airplay. We want know if you think this song about surrender does have the potential for radio airplay?

HitPredictor member sweetness_20011 thinks Brendan James’ “Your Beating Heart” deserves some attention, and what better way to get it some then by putting into the HitPredictor jukebox? This brand new track is from James’ self-titled sophomore album that debuted last month. This track was also featured on One Tree Hill a couple of weeks ago. But do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!

What were DJ Lilly’s top picks last week? Find out here!

Hey HP!

One disadvantage of writing blogs before Tuesday is that I don’t know what hidden songs are in the jukebox; so those opinions will always be a week behind :(. If you did submit songs into the contest, I hope they end up in the jukebox this week! :). I submitted more songs to the jukebox; but I will have to talk about those next week.

So far I haven’t really liked any of the Katy Perry songs I have heard since “California Gurls”. I mean they were OK; but they weren’t great and I don’t have them on repeat during a stream. I heard “Won’t Back Down” by Eminem months ago; but I didn’t particularly care for it. I thought Pink did a great job; but I just am not a big fan of the song or of those two doing a duet. I did like some of the other Eminem songs in the jukebox though. I did get annoyed with a particular artist that took over the jukebox this week; but sadly, I can’t talk about that until next week (rules). If you’ve rated music in the past week or two I am sure you’ve heard this artist more than once and probably know who I’m talking about.

I liked the Finger Eleven song, “Living in a Dream”; but I didn’t think it was as good as “Paralyzer” or some of their other previous releases. “Who’s My Bitch” by the Paradiso Girls was an interesting song – it was nice to hear something a little bit different by a girl group. “You Can Always Come Home” by Jason Castro, was a very beautiful song. I see Kylie Minogue being another one of those singers that will be doing dance music until she is 89 – I think people like that should just stop while they are ahead. I didn’t like “Get Outta My Way.”

Do you know Ms. Melismatic aka @Melismaticdiva? You should since she was the HitPredictor American Idol blogger for all of season nine, and she is also now going to host a radio show debuting on Resolution Radio this Wednesday (9/22 – tomorrow!) at 9 p.m. Eastern! This is a great opportunity to check the station out and see what we have going on! I will be DJ-ing this weekend (Friday and Sunday) at 9 p.m. Eastern, so please send me some requests! We have a contest starting in December (the prize is pretty cool), so stop by and check it out! As always, if you want me to rate YOUR fave song of the week, shoot me an email at hewitt_fanatic@musician.org – Thanks, and have a great week! – Lilly

Someone thinks these tracks are hot – do you?

Standard

We’ve got some brand new tracks for you to check out today – all of these came in from our members! Do you think any of these has hit potential? Let us know with your feedback at HitPredictor!

The Paradiso Girls are a group that you may have heard of for their fun, pop dance-club beat party tracks like “Patron Tequila”. The group’s second single “Who’s my b***h?” was released earlier this summer and ziggylover2000 wanted to see how it would fare in the HitPredictor jukebox. This track inspired by an aria has been made into a pop dance track with plenty of attitude. Is this the kind of guilty pleasure you enjoy at a party? Do you think this single still has the potential to chart?

“Living In A Dream” by Finger Eleven is the first single from the group’s upcoming sixth studio album and HitPredictor member sweetness_20011 thinks you need to hear it! This track features a mix of hooks with a winding guitar line that weaves in and out of a rocking rhythm section with catchy guitar riffs as the lead singer throws caution to the wind, discarding all worries about real life in order to daydream about his lover.  Do you agree with sweetness_200111 and think this track has hit potential?

Speculation is already mounting of what Katy Perry’s third single from Teenage Dream should be – and one HitPredictor member, xvintagehearts, thinks “E.T.” has a lot of single potential! Earlier this week at the MTV VMAs Perry hinted that the new single would be emotional and moving, and that the video for it is very “touching.” Do you think it could be “E.T.”? If not, do you still think this track has the chops to be a potential single?

“You Can Always Come Home” is a tender duet by Jason Castro with labelmate Serena Ryder that HitPredictor member Rachel2 thinks is a wonderful song for the fall season. This touching track has a bluesy feel with heartfelt lyrics. Album reviews of the American Idol alum’s self-titled debut album have called out this track consistently as one of the top three on the entire record. Do you agree and think it deserves more attention on the radio?

Thanks again to all who submitted nominations for the hidden song contest (which are of great use to us here too as you can see!). Anytime a nomination is used in the jukebox we award the member with 25 points, so keep ‘em coming! We know many of you are deep into the music scene and appreciate the tips you give us as to which songs you think are going to be hits!

But first, we need your nominations!  You can send ‘em in here on our Facebook page, or e-mail me directly at maijaliisa [at] hitpredictor.com!
