Hidden song contest winners!

Standard

Thanks to everyone that participated in this week’s hidden song contest! We think you’ll find it was worth the effort, as we are offering double the points this week for all songs reported in. Hopefully this will help you earn the bonus points you need for some holiday presents!

That little incentive got most of you looking hard this week, and it paid off! Almost everyone found the three hidden songs which were Brendan James’ “The Lucky Ones,”  “One Day” by Sharon Van Etten, and Jason Castro’s “Wait for a Miracle.” A big thanks goes to HitPredictor members beauty57, sweetness_20011, and Rachel2 who sent in the nominations!

As we noted, each track correctly reported by a HitPredictor member by the 3 p.m. deadline today (Thursday, Dec. 9) earned a 50-point reward (double the normal!) and an entry into each song’s drawing for 500 (double the normal) additional bonus points!

And, the winners of the 500 bonus points drawings this week were HitPredictor members azabuey, Musicfan4ever, and Ragchuck. Congratulations!

Make sure you check back tomorrow to see what else (besides the three hidden songs) our members have suggested for the jukebox that we thought DID deserve some jukebox time – we will have an additional four tracks picked by our members ready for you to rate tomorrow morning! So make sure to check back and find out what the new songs will be, and give us your feedback on them! After all, these tracks were nominated because someone out there thought they had the potential to be a hit, and we want to know if you agree!

Let’s get ready for the next contest – which (remember) won’t be until later this month! We still need your nominations though, and remember, if we use your song, whether it’s in the hidden song contest, or add it to the jukebox as a members’ pick just because we want to test whether it has hit potential, you will earn a 25-point reward! So, keeping that in mind what do you think deserves some jukebox time? A new track from your favorite artist or something you heard in passing on the radio? You can submit your suggestions here on our Facebook page, or e-mail me directly at maijaliisa [at] hitpredictor.com!

Please submit your top two picks only and make them the best ones you know!

Unsigned and unknown catch Nina’s attention this week!

Guest blogger and HitPredictor member Nina C. reports on the new music finds and what she liked and didn’t like in the jukebox each week atHitPredictor. Many of these songs are still available so make check them out and let us know whether you agree or disagree! And, make sure you check out Nina’s other blog, TwilightNera’s Entertainment Hotspot for other news in the entertainment world and make sure to check out the freebie giveaway she’s got going on over there right now!

This was pretty solid week here at HitPredictor. I certainly liked more music this week than I did last week.  My favorite artist this week was an unsigned artist that needs to be signed immediately: Adam Watts.  His voice is strong, genuine and clear.  In his song “When Everything Else is Gone” the lyrics are catchy and well written. His voice reminds me of what singing really sounds like without synthesizers and over-done drum beats. I haven’t heard many songs by Jason Castro that I liked.  His music is usually to poppy sweet for me but I thought “You Are” was a strong and sweet love song. I was disappointed by Pink’s new single “Raise your Glass.” There is just nothing about this song that makes me want to listen to the rest of the album and that is what a first single should do.  I’ve been a fan of Pink for many years now so I really do hope her other songs are more engaging.

I really enjoyed “The First Time” by Script. It felt like a good solid rock song. I’m not a steady fan of all their music but they definitely turn in some great rock music. “One by One” by Tiffany Dunn was really catchy and had a great dance beat. There was another mysterious artist this week in the jukebox. I really enjoyed the songs “Like a Wave,” “Unfinished” and “One More Night”; the person singing really has a good voice. The music is great pop – it’s strong pop without being too sappy. I’d like to fit a name with these songs and I hope to hear more from him. Nicki Minaj’s “Right Thru Me” was a fun and memorable song. I know her voice can be annoying sometimes but she’s my guilty pleasure in music. “Your Beating Heart” by Brendan James was a haunting and beautiful love song. Sara Bareilles has some of the most natural music around right now. Her lyrics are always well written and the music is always good. “Not Alone” is a great follow up to “King of Everything.” My only really negative review for the week was “Speak Now” by Taylor Swift her music really does not impress me because it all sounds the same.

So what were your favorite songs this week and what did you think were the worst songs this week? Let me know and have a great week :)

Some members think these tracks have hit potential – do you agree?

Because of all the excellent nominations this week, we have just loaded five new tracks picked by our members to the jukebox this morning! Among the artists we want your feedback on are Sara Bareilles, Jason Castro, LoCash Cowboys, FFH, and Brendan James. So check these tracks out and let us know whether you think any of these picks from our members have hit potential!

Fresh off her new album Kalediscope Heart is Sara Bareilles’ “Not Alone,” a track nominated by HitPredictor member trevorstrain269. Do you think this bluesy, soulful track has the potential to be a radio hit? Some reviewers have said this track has the best vocals of the entire album, and no doubt demonstrates Bareilles’ true, raw talent. What do you think? Let us know with your vote at HitPredictor!

American Idol alum Jason Castro is coming out with a Christian album called Who I Am on Nov. 9. Who I Am is a new version of Castro’s debut album with four brand new songs which he described as his “love songs to God.” One of the new tracks is the album’s first single “You Are,” which was nominated by HitPredictor members xvintagehearts and Rachel 2. We want to know if you think this track has hit potential!

“Keep In Mind” is the newest single from LoCash Cowboys, which HitPredictor member MARTHAM submitted for consideration. This powerful soul-moving ballad about a parent’s loving and reluctant farewell to children anxious to venture off into the world has a powerful message and wonderful harmony – but do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!

The former Four For Harmony has come back from a two-year hiatus as FFH and has just released a new track “Undone,” which HitPredictor member musiclover8603 thinks has hit potential! Earlier this summer “Undone” blasted onto the Billboard Hot Christian songs chart, but still hasn’t registered much airplay. We want know if you think this song about surrender does have the potential for radio airplay?

HitPredictor member sweetness_20011 thinks Brendan James’ “Your Beating Heart” deserves some attention, and what better way to get it some then by putting into the HitPredictor jukebox? This brand new track is from James’ self-titled sophomore album that debuted last month. This track was also featured on One Tree Hill a couple of weeks ago. But do you think it has the potential to be a radio hit? Have a listen and let us know!
