Happy holidays to everyone at HitPredictor, I hope you ate plenty of food and had a great day! The last two weeks at HitPredictor have been pretty much a win, with just a few exceptions. “Perfect” by Headly was really heartfelt and good lyrics while “Sleazy” by Ke$sha makes me wonder what is wrong with the music industry now-a-days. I mean are people really listening and respecting someone who prides themselves on being sleazy? It is really disappointing that someone like her can become so famous. She definitely gets the award for worst song of the week.

“Love the Way You Lie” Part 2 by Rihanna feat. Eminem really is better than part one and is one of her best songs. I find the song really disturbing but it definitely has a lot of work put into it. I enjoyed both of the Michael Jackson songs “Breaking News” sounded like classic Michael and was really good. “Hold My Hand” feat. Akon was a really good collaboration and brought a nice sound to make it a solid song. “Coming Home” by Diddy Dirty Money was a strong rap song because it has good lyrics (good lyrics still count now-a-days don’t they?) “New Years Eve” by Snoop Dogg may not have been a heavy rap but it had a smooth beat and chill feel to it that gave it enough to keep it going. While Ciara’s “Gimme That” was only good because of its OK beat but I don’t think it’s enough to make it a hit.

“Fall for Your Type” by Jaime Foxx feat. Drake is a pretty solid collaboration between an R&B and a rap star. It has a real mood to it that carries the song really far. I thought “Love Letter” by Swayze was a pretty good rap/love song, you really do not hear that often so I enjoyed that.  I was really impressed with Justin Bieber’s “Prayer,” it showed real substance and strength for the young artist. It is a really heartfelt song and I genuinely appreciate that.

Looking back at the last two weeks they were really quite good. There was one BIG exception that hopefully I can mention next week. Happy Holidays :)

DJ Lilly’s picks and predictions, with an eye on the Hot 100 this week!

Hey HP!

I hope everyone had a fantabulous holiday weekend! So, I was gone all weekend and didn’t have much time to rate songs for the week, but I didn’t want to leave you with nothing, so I decided to concentrate on the Hot 100 this week.

I still like both of the Rihanna songs that are on the list and I even tried to buy the new Rihanna album, Loud, on Black Friday, but they were sold out.

I still hate the Ke$ha song (“We R Who We R”) and still don’t really understand why it’s so popular.

Katy Perry’s “Firework” is a good song, and the video is awesome too.

My favorite song on the list is probably Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” (its growing on me).

I also still really like “Just a Dream” by Nelly.

Two songs that are on the Hot 100 that I hope eventually reach the Top 10 are “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner (I am really starting to like that song and I find it stuck in my head once in awhile) and “Whip My Hair” by Willow Smith – I think both have pretty much run their course though.

The songs I heard in the jukebox were “Hummingbird Heartbeat” by Katy Perry, which was OK.

Another song I heard was “Last Night” by Good Charlotte, which wasn’t OK. I am really disappointed in them sometimes.

“Hey Alli” by Runner Runner was pretty good, “The One That Got Away” by Katy Perry was alright; but not as good as her previous songs. “Hold My Hand” by Michael Jackson and Akon could’ve been better; but it wasn’t too awful. I still really like “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys” by Kimberly Caldwell (that is the title according to her website).

Michael Jackson & Akon’s “Hold My Hand” ready to rate in the jukebox now!

Standard

Michael Jackson’s new single with Akon “Hold My Hand” made its official debut at 12:01 a.m. EST this morning, and we’ve now got it ready for you to rate in the HitPredictor jukebox!

We want to know if you think this track – the lead single from Jackson’s upcoming posthumous album Michael, due out December 14 – has the potential to be a hit as a universal plea for peace.

As we reported last week, Akon recently put the finishing touches on the track, which was originally recorded back in 2007. This track was selected as the lead single by Jackson himself, who wrote a note stating his desire to give “Hold My Hand” extra attention.

Akon spoke about recording “Hold My Hand” with Jackson saying: “Just to be in the same room [with him], I felt like everything I wanted to achieve in life had already been achieved. That’s how incredible that aura [is].”

Do you think the pair recorded an uplifting hit with “Hold My Hand”? Check it out at HitPredictor now and let us know what you think!

New singles from Enrique, Akon, Flo Rida, and Mann – do you think any have hit potential?

Standard

Happy Wednesday! We have some brand new Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Flo Rida, and Mann in the jukebox now to help get you over the mid-week hump! So read a little about the brand new tracks we’ve got below waiting for you to rate in the HitPredictor jukebox and let us know what you think of their hit potential!

Akon teamed up with Rick Ross on his new single called “Give It To ‘Em.” This track from his upcoming Akonic, is auto-tuned in typical Akon style, but is a return to a more urban sound, largely thanks to Ross’ contribution in a booming verse, which gives the track some meat. Do you think this single has the potential to be a hit for Akon? Does it make you excited to hear more from his upcoming album?

Enrique Iglesias is laying it all out there with his new single “Tonight” featuring Ludacris. This club-ready track has Iglesias telling his chick “Tonight I’m f—ing you.” Needless to say, the vocals are dripping with confidence and with a galloping dance beat and a catchy hook assisted by the vocal stylings of Ludacris this rush-delivery single could be a potential hit – but only YOU can decide! Do you think “Tonight” has hit potential?

Flo Rida has also just released a brand new single “Who Dat Girl” from his upcoming album Only One Flo (Part 1), which features Akon on the appropriately auto-tuned hook. This just may be another club banger for Flo Rida as the track features a strong dance beat as Flo sings about being overtaken by the charms of a beautiful woman while Akon’s hook adds an extra jolt to the double-timed chorus. Do you think this new track has hit potential?

A new rapper joining the big leagues – Mann – has just released a new single “Buzzin,” which is reportedly already blowing up in California. This track has also already caught the attention 50 Cent who has recorded his own remix! This catchy, fun song with an old school kick is reportedly going to be on Mann’s debut album “MANN’s World.” Do you think this track has the potential to get heavy radio airplay across the country? Have a listen and let us know with your vote!

As you check out these new tracks at HitPredictor make sure you take note of any hidden songs you come across, and submit them by 3 p.m. EST Thursday, Nov. 11 for some bonus points!

DJ Lilly gives us her picks!

I realized the other day that I never really tell you anything about myself. All you really need to know is that I am old enough to have grown up with boy bands blasting out of my stereo and young enough not to be blasting Neil Diamond or Wham; and that I am a huge fan of Christina Aguilera, Nick Lachey, TLC, Lacuna Coil, and Kelly Clarkson. My fave singer, since I was a kid, has been Shanice and I even got to meet her when I was 15 (along with Martina McBride and Olivia Newton-John). I also have mentioned in past blogs that I love Rihanna!

So I noticed that I have been kinda negative in my reviews lately, (mostly because I didn’t like the songs that were in the jukebox) but most of my reviews this week were positive (uh oh). I liked the Kelsey Rey songs that were in the jukebox last week, and I liked the “No Artist” songs that were in the jukebox this week as well. I have no idea who it is; but I am thinking they are boy-band related. I liked the Adam Watts and Yearling songs that were in the jukebox too. I also liked “You Are”, by Jason Castro and “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. I actually saw a tweet, by Ashley Tisdale from earlier today (Monday, Oct. 11), saying that she loves that song. I think Pink has another hit song on her hands.

It was nice to hear Five Finger Death Punch in the jukebox, we need more hard rock in there (except it wasn’t too hard this week). I have never really cared for Cake and their new single, “Sick Of You” still didn’t make me a fan. I really liked Matisse and Akon’s song “Better Than Her” that was in the jukebox last week. I thought “Not Alone” by Sara Bareilles was OK, give it some time to grow on me.

My favorite song of the week goes to “Desperate Boys and Stupid Girls” by Kimberly Caldwell. She did a cover of an Alana Grace (who is a good friend of mine) song earlier this year and I didn’t really like it (great song; but it just didn’t go well with her voice and it was hard for me to like an Alana song, not being sung by Alana-lol). I think this song is really good though (because boys can be desperate and girls can be stupid) and I hope it becomes a radio hit!

What song in the jukebox do you want to become a radio hit? Shoot me an e-mail and let me know! You can also write me with any other song you want my opinion on – I love hearing from you guys! Also, stop by the station’s website and show your support for the best radio station on the net! You can tune in to our DJs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9 p.m. Eastern! We are huge supporters of HitPredictor too! See you next week, where I will have plenty more to say and more songs to rate! – DJ Lilly, Owner of Resolution Radio (hewitt_fanatic@musician.org)

Nina reviews the really good and really bad at HitPredictor!

Guest blogger and HitPredictor member Nina C. reports on the new music finds and what she liked and didn’t like in the HitPredictor jukebox last week. Many of these songs are still available so make check them out and let us know whether you agree or disagree! This week was a pretty good week in my opinion at HitPredictor. I found music that I really enjoyed along with some music that I really could not stand listening to. My favorite song of the week was “Holdin You Down” by Jazmine Sullivan. I’ve been a fan of hers since the release of her album Fearless and cannot wait to hear more new music from her. This song gave me a great feeling that her next album will be just as good as her last. I enjoyed “Shake” by Jesse McCartney; his more adult-like sound is really working for him and I have enjoyed all of his songs that have come through the jukebox lately. “Summer Day” by Sheryl Crow is another one of her relaxed and fun summer songs. Even though the summer is over this song brings back those good summer memories all over again. I really liked Matt Hires’ voice in “You in the End.” I like some alternative rock and this was a really cool song.

I just cannot stomach a lot of music by Kanye West and I thought the song “Monster” was OK, but I have no doubt that it is going to be a huge hit. The song also featured Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Rick Ross. It’s like a rap star reunion. The only part I really enjoyed was Nicki Minaj’s rap. “Breaking Point” by Keri Hilson is good R&B. As you know I occasionally like country music and I thought “Ready for Love” by Adam Brand was catchy and really enjoyable. Akon has a nice dance song with Angel. I enjoy Finger Eleven and their song “Living in a Dream” is great too

The songs I didn’t like this week, I really didn’t like!  I didn’t care for any of the songs in the jukebox by Eminem. I’m not a prude, but his music is so offensive and derogatory towards women I cannot stand it. The word ‘bitch’ was mentioned so many times in the song “No Love” (feat Lil Wayne) I lost count. He half apologizes for slandering people in his song “Talkin 2 Myself” but he still says mean and hateful things in his music and I just cannot accept that as something I want to listen to. Does Kylie Minogue‘s music have to be so annoying? Her song “Get Outta my Way” is so pop and dances it’s just annoying.

This week also had some great songs and songs that were repeated way too much, if you know what I mean…more on that next week. Have a great week and see you next time!

Jay-Z crowned “Hip-Hop Cash King”

Jay-Z is the king of hip-hop. Financially at least ;)

Forbes just announced its list of “Hip-Hop Cash Kings,” or in other words the top 2o money makers and Jay-Z tops the list.

SPIN reports that the rapper handedly took the crown this year – for the third time in the last four years, after pulling in a total of $63 million over the past 12 months!

Where does the hip-hop mogul’s money come in from? A variety of places actually including his ownership of the 40/40 nightclub chain, Broadway’s “Fela!,” the New Jersey Nets, along with the earnings from his recent Blueprint 3 Tour, which SPIN reports brought in a whopping $1 million per concert.

In second – and at less than half the earnings is Diddy, who pulled in $30M after releasing The Last Train to Paris, selling Sean Jean clothes, managing Bad Boy Records, and founding a vodka joint venture with Diageo.

Diddy came in second at $30 million after a successful year when he released his new album The Last Train to Paris, sold more Sean Jean clothing, managed Bad Boy Records, and found himself in a vodka joint venture with Diageo.

At No. 3 is Akon after earning $21 million, Weezy came in at No. 4, pulling in $20 million despite his time behind bars, with Dr. Dre clocking in at No. 5 with $17 million.

You can see the complete Forbes list here.

Were you surprised with any of the top 5?

Akon says Lady Gaga busy recording new tracks while on tour

Standard

Despite Lady Gaga’s grueling Monster Ball tour schedule, the pop diva is writing and recording new tracks to a follow-up album, according to a report from VIBE magazine.

Keith Murphy reports that Akon, who signed Gaga to his Kon Live Distribution label in 2008, has been hard at work on the road. He said: “She records while she’s on the road. I’m flying out to Europe to work on some new records with her. Gaga’s just like me. She has a tour bus with a studio in it. Some of the songs I’ve heard are going to be crazy. She’s getting bigger and better.”

Akon also said Gaga is a self-contained artist, which makes his job easier. He explains: “All I’m doing at the end of the day is listening to the tracks Gaga has written and approving them for her album. She has producers that she works with outside of myself and they are coming up with some incredible records. But the beauty of it is she knows exactly what she wants. So it just makes it easier for me.”

There is no hint of a date for a follow-up album release timeline yet, but there’s been other evidence that Gaga has been busy planning a new album for quite some time. Back in February we reported that producer RedOne had plans to hit the studio again with Lady Gaga “within weeks.”

Do you think Lady Gaga will have another chart topper in her next album? Will you be anxious to buy it?
