Standard

There is so much new music in the jukebox, I just had to let y’all know!

First, 3 Doors Down released a new single yesterday called “When You’re Young.” Y’all should start hearing this one on the radio and here is a sneak peak of the single cover artwork!

Yesterday right after the clock struck midnight, Kanye West and Jay-Z dropped “H.A.M.” on facebook. This is their first single off their collab album Watch The Throne.

Sara Bareilles’ new album, Kaleidoscope Heart is out now and “Uncharted” is the first single off this album. She came up with the name of the album through the lyrics in “Uncharted” so Sara says this had to be her first single to pay thanks for giving her that much inspiration.

And last but not least, I’m sure you all know that Britney Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me” hit blogs and radio airwaves everywhere on Monday. Whether you wanted to listen or not, you’ve probably heard it. Will this hit be as big as all of her other singles?

Eminem, Jay-Z Leaked Track “Syllables” recorded in 2007

Standard

Yesterday, a never before heard Jay-Z/Eminem track leaked onto the Internet. An interview by Vibe.com with Cashis, another one of the cuts rappers, revealed that the track was made in 2007 when he was new to Shady’s label. He recalled his excitement to be working next to two of hip-hop’s biggest names, in the interview. “I was more so excited than intimidated because I already had held my own with Em, and I think they believed in me this time. After I kicked my verse, Em, Dre and 50 all said it was dope. That was the cosign I needed. I learned more from that session than any other before that.”

MTV tells that “while Cashis isn’t sure whether the “Syllables” leak was authorized by his label or not, the Slim Shady protégé says that the version that hit the Internet is different “and even better” than the one originally recorded in 2007. The tune was set to be featured on one of Eminem’s LPs or Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated Detox.”

Guess what Music Lovers?! We’ve got “Syllables” in the jukebox for you to listen to right now!! Check it out and tell us what you think!

Eminem announces broadcast of “Home and Home” tour from Detroit to air New Year’s Eve

Standard

Eminem has had a great comeback in 2010, and today announced plans to end the year on a high note, by broadcasting one of his Home and Home shows on his satellite radio station, Shade 45, New Year’s Eve.

Jay-Z joined Eminem as the headliners for the Home and Home tour earlier this fall, which featured a host of guest appearances from others in the business including Dr. Dre, B.o.B, Chris Martin, and more!

MTV reports this morning the rapper announced on Shade 45 that the broadcast of the Home and Home tour from Detroit’s Comerica Park earlier this year would be available to all satellite subscribers on New Year’s Eve.

“As a special treat, for the listeners and the fans who missed the ‘Home and Home’ concerts with me and Jay-Z, Shade 45 is gonna air my performance from the Detroit show this New Year’s Eve at 8 p.m.,” Eminem said.

In all, the Home and Home tour encompassed only four shows – two stadium shows in each artist’s hometown – Detroit and New York.

“It felt great, man,” Eminem said about the home shows in Detroit. “It was crazy. The energy of the crowd. Just me being home, you know? I don’t know, man — it’s a good thing. Blessed.”

So, if you want to hear what it sounded like, make sure to tune in to Shade 45 at 8 p.m. EST on New Year’s Eve.

Do you plan on checking it out?

Eminem’s Recovery is, to date, the best selling album of 2010, and has already earned him a handful of Grammy nominations for next year’s big show. Do you think Eminem has had a more successful year in the past, or is he at the top of his game right now?

Jay-Z signs Jay Electronica to Roc Nation

Standard

Jay-Z has another Jay at his label, after signing Jay Electronica to Roc Nation.

MTV reports Jay-Z announced the news at a NYC burlesque venue Friday night. At the event Jay said: “My whole goal is to reintroduce magic to hip hop. We watched this wizard do his thing. Y’all supported him. And he’s an official Roc Nation signee.”

Billboard reports Electronica has been praised for his rap skills since as early as 2007. However, it was the release of the 2009 track “Exhibit C,” which reached no. 86 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, that garnered him the most attention. Artists such as Diddy, Nas, and his baby-mother Erykah Badu have called him the most exciting thing to happen to hip-hop in a long time.

Electronica joins a growing cast of Roc Nation labelmates including Rihanna and Willow Smith.

Do you think Jay Electronica will do well with the support of Jay-Z’s label?

Do you think Jay-Z is going to run a successful label – more successful than the “traditional” (and big name) labels?

Jay-Z recruits heavy-hitters for Bronx stop of “Home and Home” tour

Standard

– AP photo by Jason DeCrow

If you thought the Eminem and Jay-Z “Home and Home” tour couldn’t get more epic than the Sept. 2 & 3 performances in Detroit then you were wrong. The king of hip-hop took it up a notch when the tour hit his hometown – NYC – specifically the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop last night.

Eminem again opened the show, this time in Yankee stadium which hosted its first ever musical concert with a truly epic show.

For the Detroit-based rapper’s set, he brought out D-12, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre and B.o.B. Billboard reports that Eminem acknowledged the gravity of how far hip-hop has come and the honor of performing in such a venue saying: “Do not think that I don’t know where I’m at right now. I’m also honored to be on this [expletive] stage in the Bronx, the [expletive] birthplace of hip-hop.”

Not one to be outdone on his home turf Jay-Z brought out Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and wife Beyonce to support his set. He even recruited Coldplay’s Chris Martin to join him on stage for several songs!

The duo performed one song together, “Renegade,” during Jay-Z’s set.

Billboard’s observer reports that the sets were very different in tone, with Em’s being more representative of a triumphant comeback, whereas Jay-Z’s was more like a coronation.

Jay-Z told the crowd “This is historic: They ain’t never gonna be another night like tonight.” … except maybe tonight when the final “Home and Home” tour show takes place at Yankee Stadium.

Do you think last night’s show sounds like it was more epic than the two hosted in Detroit Sept. 2 and 3?

As expected, Eminem and Jay-Z show nothing short of epic

Standard

Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage

As expected based from the billing of two of the biggest rappers in the industry teaming up for a show together, Eminem and Jay-Z put on an EPIC show for Detroit last night with support from Dr. Dre, D12, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Drake, Young Jeezy, Memphis Bleek and of course, show-opener B.o.B who helped make the concert one of the biggest nights in hip-hop history.

Thursday’s show was just the first of 4 stadium performances – two in Detroit, Eminem’s hometown, and two in NYC, Jay-Z’s hometown, hence the “Home and Home” tour title. The second Detroit show goes live tonight, with the two NYC shows being held Sept. 13 & 14.

MTV reports that Eminem gave his hometown a performance of hit after hit, bringing out D12, 50 Cent and the G-Unit before pulling the big Dr. Dre onto stage to the roar of the crowd.

“Got dammit, Detroit. Do I love you or what?” Eminem said. “Look what I brought out for you.” After asking the crowd to show their love, they began chanting “Deeee-tox, Deeeee-tox” in anticipation of Dre’s upcoming album – the first since The Chronic was released in 1992, almost 20 years ago!

In response to the crowd Dre just smiled and said, “I’m Comin’!”

B.o.B, who opened the show, also re-joined Eminem for “Airplanes Part 2.”

After Eminem’s set there was a 10-minute break before Jay-Z exploded on stage. His set included appearances from Jeezy, and Memphis Bleek.

In all, the hip-hop stars shared very little stage time – only when Jay-Z made an appearance for “Renegade” during Em’s set.

You can catch a full recap of the show here on MTV.

Were you at the show last night? Who do you think Jay-Z will bring out when the show heads to his hometown?

B.o.B to open Detroit-based “Home and Home” tour shows

Standard

New details (well, at least one) are emerging from Eminem and Jay-Z’s upcoming stadium shows, the first of which is tomorrow night, Sept. 2 in Detroit’s Comerica Park.

Newcomer B.o.B will be opening the first two of the total four “Home and Home” tour shows, Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 in Detroit.

Monday, the Atlanta rapper’s manager TJ Chapman tweeted: “I’m excited about heading to Detroit tomorrow for a few days! B.o.B is performing @ Tiger Stadium w/ GUESS WHO & WHO????”

B.o.B and Em already have a relationship as the rapper brought Eminem in on his debut album, contributing to his smash hit “Airplanes,” which has been on the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 nearly all summer long.

There have been very few details revealed about the upcoming performances (as we reported here on Monday), but both shows are expected to have a number of famous guests and promise to be epic.

Will you be seeing one of the “Home and Home” shows? If not, do you wish you were?
