Katy Perry’s ‘E.T.’ Dominates Digital Songs, Climbs Billboard Hot 100

Standard

Don’t worry Lady Gaga is still No. 1 on Hot 100 but since that is not new news, I’m angling Katy Perry this week! Her new track, “E.T.” that features Kanye West, soared up the digital songs chart from 5 to 1 and is currently No. 3 on the Hot 100 and earned the digital gainer of the week. Woo hoo for Katy!

No. 2 is still being held by Cee-Lo Green’s “F**k You (Forget You)” for the fourth consecutive week. And Rihanna’s “S&M” dips 3-4 but claims the Hot 100’s Airplay Gainer award.

The rest of the top 10 Hot 100 goes like this:

  • No. 5 – Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor”
  • No. 6 – P!nk’s “F**kin’ Perfect”
  • No. 7 – Bruno Mars’ “Grenade”
  • No. 8 – “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)” by Enrique Iglesias featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E
  • No. 9 – Britney Spears’ “Till the World Ends”
  • No. 10 – Ke$ha’s “Blow”

What do you think of this week’s Hot 100? Katy Perry seems to be gaining in popularity and Gaga is holding number 1 for the fifth week in a row!

Say Whaaat?! Only 1 New Song in the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100

Standard

Lady Gaga holds the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Born This Way.” Many other songs are also in the same places as their is only one new song in the Top 10.

Cee Lo is still holding onto the No. 2 spot with his single “F**k You” but Bruno Mars’, who was number 3 last week, slides to 6 this week with “Grenade.”

Rihanna progressed up replacing Mars’ at number 3 with her new track “S&M” passing P!nk, who holds strong at No. 4 singing her “F**kin’ Perfect” single. Get it?!

The digital gainer goes to Jennifer Lopez‘s single ft. Pitbull titled “On The Floor” which she premiered the video for on ‘American Idol’ last week. Maybe it was all the Idol fans but for some reason this songs took leaps to grab the digital gainer and the No. 5 place on the chart.

Two spots below Lopez, Ke$ha‘s “Blow” blasts 11-7. The second single from “Cannibal,” following the No. 1 “We R Who We R.” Ke$ha has now sent all six of her singles as a lead artist into the Hot 100’s top 10 and this is the only new song in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Ke$ha beat out Dr. Dre’s “I Need A Doctor” who was at No. 10 last week.

Katy Perry places two songs in the top 10 for a second consecutive week. “E.T.,” featuring Kanye West, holds at No. 8 and “Firework” falls 6-10.

In between Perry’s songs, Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You),” featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, slips 7-9.

Lady Gaga Holds Strong at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Standard

A week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and still going strong. Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” refused to relinquish the title of number one to the other Grammy Awards-fueled contenders.

Billboard reports that “the festivities’ main beneficiary is Cee Lo Green, whose raucous rendition of “F**k You (Forget You),” with guest vocals by Gwyneth Paltrow and a backing band of Muppets, spurs a 178% gain for the track to 412,000 downloads and the No. 2 standing on the digital sales tally. The song’s improvement is enough to earn the title the Greatest Gainer/Digital award on the Hot 100, where it jumps 7-2.”

Here is the rest of this week’s top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100:

  • No. 3 – Bruno Mars’ “Grenade”
  • No. 4 – Dr. Dre’s “I Need A Doctor” ft. Eminem and Skylar Grey

  • No. 6 – Pink’s “F**kin’ Perfect”

  • No. 9 – Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Loving You)” ft. Ludacris and DJ Frank E
  • No. 10 – Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow”

Lady Gaga Grabs 1,000th No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Standard

I said yesterday when I reported the Billboard 200 that I would be back today with full details on Lady Gaga not only getting her new song “Born This Way” to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but picking up the milestone of that No. 1 being the 1,000th No. 1 that Billboard has doled out since they started charting data 53 years ago.

Well I am back and I’ve got the scoop! As well as the rest of the top 10 on this week’s Hot 100.

Gaga tells Billboard of the milestone, “It is a tremendous honor, to be the 1000th no. 1 on Billboard…I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career. I am so humbled and so honored and overwhelmed by the reception to ‘Born This Way,’ ” Gaga adds. “[It] has been so life changing for me as an artist, and between Billboard and the international number ones and the radio numbers…I couldn’t be more blessed to have the fans that I have.”

Speaking of Gaga, did any of you see her outfit on ‘Good Morning America’ this a.m.? The Lady says it was inspired by a condom to promote HIV/AIDS awareness. Whoa, that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

In other news, the fight between Katy Perry’s Firework” and Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” continues. This week Katy Perry is in the No. 2 spot beating out Mars as he slides to number three.

Anyway, here is the rest of the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 for this week:

  • No. 4 – “Black and Yellow” by Wiz Khalifa
  • No. 5 – “F**kin’ Perfect” by P!nk (this week’s airplay gainer)
  • No. 6 – Tonight (I’m Loving You) by Enrique Iglesias ft. Ludacris and DJ Frank E
  • No. 7 – “F**k You (Forget You)” by Cee-Lo Green
  • No. 8 – “S&M” by Rihanna
  • No. 9 – “The Time (Dirty Bit)” by The Black Eyed Peas
  • No. 10 – “Hold It Against Me” by Britney Spears

Bits of Hits from HitPredictor

Standard

I have some small bits of info for y’all (hence the title, lol)…

Katy Perry has a new single called “E.T.” (extraterrestrial) and it features Kanye West! That’s a collaboration I didn’t see coming, but guess what?! I’m loving it. You don’t have to be a genius to figure out I’m pretty much in love with Katy Perry and this song is no different. The Kanye twist gives this song just enough of an edgy, dirtiness. Go to your jukebox so you can see if you are lovin’ it as much as me!

Next up, another story about Bruno Mars today. He announced at the Grammys on Sunday that the next single off of his Doo-Wops and Hooligans album would be “The Lazy Song.” Everyone LOVES being lazy, even if you only get to do it once in a blue moon. This song is the anthem for laziness and I can see it being a real hit for summer when a lot of you get to enjoy those lazy summer days (and nights) because school’s out! Lucky y’all… Anyway, this one is in your jukebox too! So what are you waiting for?! Get over there to listen to these HITS now!

Katy Perry Dedicates Grammy Performance to “Valentine’s Lovers”

Standard

The 53rd annual Grammy awards aired last night on CBS. There are so many highlights from the show that I will be talking about throughout the day, but it’s Valentine’s Day so I would like to start the day off with a girl, who’s in love with love. That’s Katy Perry!

Last night, her performance was partly dedicated to her new husband, Russell Brand. Perry crooned “Not Like The Movies” while sitting on the swing that you see in the picture above. There was a pink curtain that rose to the ceiling as Perry did and photos and videos from Perry and Brand’s wedding in India showed in the background. As the tuned changed, Perry jumped off the swing and onto the stage saying she dedicates this one to “all the Valentine’s lovers.” She sang “Teenage Dream” as her dancers jammed in neon conversation heart costumes. Perry also joined in on the dancing as she finished the performance.

Perry was nominated for several awards but sadly she didn’t win anything. She held a news conference on Facebook Live saying that she was bringing her Grammy to the Grammys so even if she did not win an actual award, she would still have a Grammy with her. As the nominees for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance were announced, the camera panned to Katy, her Grammy, and Russell sitting in the crowd, proving that she already had the best Grammy with her.

I picked Katy’s performance as one of my favorites because she dedicated it to love and I’m in love with being in love too! I will tell you my favorite “wow” performance later today. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

What was your favorite performance from the Grammys?

Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” Wins No. 1 spot on Hot 100

Standard

Consider it a consolation prize for the Steelers not winning the Super Bowl as Wiz Khalifa wins the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his song “Black and Yellow” jumping up from 4 to 1.

“Black and Yellow” outshines Bruno Mar’s “Grenade” (1-2) after four nonconsecutive weeks at the top. “Firework” by Katy Perry holds strong at No. 3.

It was predicted that P!nk’s “F**kin’ Perfect” would be in the No. 1 spot this week nut instead it dips to No. 4.

Here are rest of the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100:

  • No. 5 – Dr. Dre’s “I Need a Doctor,” featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey
  • No. 6 – Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You),” featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E
  • No. 7 – Far*East Movement’s “Rocketeer”
  • No. 8 – Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?,” featuring Drake
  • No. 9 – Pitbull’s “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor),” featuring T-Pain
  • No. 10 – Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me”

Does it surprise you that Wiz Khalifa beat the odds in this week’s Billboard Hot 100?

Glee Lights Up Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’

Standard

Many celebrities have had their music featured on “Glee,” but Katy Perry could be called the queen of the Fox’s hit show, because Perry’s music has popped up on the show 3 times now. Twice in one week, actually. And that double-the-fun week I speak of was this week. There was a special episode that aired after the Super Bowl on Sunday night in which Perry’s “California Girls” was featured in an over-the-top opening number and then again in last night’s show when Lea Michele performed “Firework.”

Watch the video of Lea Michele’s performance here!

“The third single off Perry’s Grammy-nominated album Teenage Dream, “Firework” has taken off like a shot with fans. Released on October 26, 2010, it’s already spent 15 weeks on Billboard‘s Hot 100 (it hit #1 on that chart, Billboard‘s Pop Songs, Dance/Club Songs, the Canadian Hot 100 and the Digital Songs list) and has helped Perry earn three consecutive chart-topping singles,” reports MTV.

Adding to the success of the track is that fact it has such a positive message that Perry hopes will inspire youth. Perry told MTV News that the song ” has a fantastic message.” She also dedicated the video to the “It Gets Better” Campaign. In the wake of the tragic string of bully-related gay teen suicides, “It Gets Better” was launched to reach out to young people who had found themselves in that very situation. Perry tweeted upon the clip’s release, “I am officially dedicating my new video to #itgetsbetter, because everyone has the spark to be a FIREWORK.”

What do you think of the success of Katy Perry’s Firework? Did you like Lea Michele’s rendition of the song on Glee?

Bruno Mars’ Still Holding On to Top Spot on Hot 100

Standard

Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” is holding on to the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart again this week. This will make four weeks for Mars, but next week seems unlikely. P!nk’s “F**kin’ Perfect is primed and ready to take the position from Mars. “F**kin’ Perfect has already stolen the top spot from “Grenade” on the Digital Songs Chart and is this week’s runner up on the Hot 100.

The next four titles all slip one spot each. Katy Perry’s “Firework” is No. 3, Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” is No. 4, “Tonight (I’m Loving You)” by Enrique Iglesias ft. Ludacris and DJ Frank E is No. 5, and Rihanna’s “What’s My Name” ft. Drake is No. 6.

To round out the top 10:

  • No. 7 – Pitbull’s “Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)” ft. T-Pain
  • No. 8 – Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me”
  • No. 9 – Far*East Movement “Rocketeer”
  • No. 10 – Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R”

Big Surprises Call for All New Billboard 200 This Week

Standard

Everything is all new again this week in the Billboard 200 with the top 5 being debut albums. This is only the fifth time the feat has ever happened according to Billboard.

At the No. 1 spot this week is The Decemberist’s “The King Is Dead” with 94,000 in sales. This number is only a “so-so figure” for the top selling album but much better than Cake’s 44,000 from last week.

On to the No. 2 spot is “Kidz Bop 19” with 70,000. Yes you did read that right. Enough said. The Script’s “Science & Faith” comes in at No. 3 with 49,000. This is much better than the band’s first album which debuts on the charts at No. 64 with 9,000. No. 4 is veteran rock group Social Distortion with their latest “Hard Time & Nursery Rhymes” which sold 46,000. The last time the group was even on the chart was in 1996’s “White Light White Heat White Trash.”

Rounding out the top 5 on the 200 with his first top 10 on the charts this week is Gregg Allman. “Low Country Blues” is his first solo set in 14 years.

Here is the rest of the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this week:

No. 6 – Bruno Mar’s “Doo-Wops and Hooligans”
No. 7 – Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”
No. 8 – Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now”
No. 9 – Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday”
No. 10 – Mumford & Sons’ “Sigh No More”

Katy Perry Stars in Grammy Promo

Katy Perry is the focus of the new spot promoting the 53rd annual Grammy awards where she will make a performance of “her songs remixed with a surprise in there somewhere too.”

The Grammy’s have been promoting all of their performers by giving them their own promo spot which sheds light on their journey into music and Perry’s is no different.

“Music is that ‘Hallelujah!’ moment when the daughter of two pastors experiences divinyl inspiration,” a voiceover booms over images of a pink church, a spinning “Killer Queen” record and a candy-coated lane.

Bruno Mars Covers Katy Perry’s California Girls in BBC Studio

Standard

Here’s something fun I wanted to throw in the mix today. A girl can’t help but love Bruno Mars’ voice.

When Mars’ visited BBC Radio, he decided to perform Katy Perry’s “California Girls” instead of one of his own songs and he did it with his own doo-wop style and beautiful vocals. Check out the video:

Don’t you wish he was singing this only to you?! I wouldn’t care what the song was about, I would just love for him to serenade me :)
