HitPredictor Chart Results

Standard

Just like last week, I told y’all that I would be reporting the results of all the songs rated here at HitPredictor. Y’all are a big portion of the what makes up these scores so I felt like y’all would want to see the results of them! So if you ever want to know how your favorite song did in the jukebox, just ask!

Anyway, let’s get to this week’s “HitPredictors.”

In the Mainstream Top 40 format, we have Rihanna’s “S&M.” This is the third single off her album Loud. RiRi is filming a very risque video for the song now, which includes bondage and hostages with Rihanna modeling a pink latex suit. That should be very interesting!

Speaking of Rihanna, her song “Raining Men” featuring Nicki Minaj is a HitPredictor on Urban this week. Also, Bow Wow, assisted by Chris Brown, is a HitPredictor with their new single “Ain’t Talking Bout You.”

Sara Bareilles third studio album Kaleidoscope Heart was released in September, and her 2nd single “Uncharted”, is a Hot AC HitPredictor this week.

Ten years ago Alecia Beth Moore aka Pink, started her career with the hit “There You Go”, and 11 years later is more popular than ever as her latest hit “F**kin’ Perfect” is a Mainstream AC HitPredictor.

In the Country format, Josh Turner has released 4 albums for MCA Nashville, and his latest, Haywire, has produced its 3rd single “I Wouldn’t Be A Man”. Reba has done a country cover of the amazing Beyonce song “If I Were A Boy” and put it on her album, All the Women I Am.

Rise Against The Machine is quickly becoming one of the most popular groups because they are HitPredictor’s at Alternative and Active Rock. Their single “Help Is On The Way” is topping both charts this week. Blues Rockers’ The Black Keys are also hot this week on the Alternative charts with their 2nd big hit “Howlin’ For You” off their album Brothers.

Also in Active Rock, 3 Doors Down. They are back after a 3 year absence with their first single, a ballad titled “When You’re Young”, from their 6th album Time Of My Life. Rock’s Prince Of Darkness, Ozzy Osborne is back with “Let It Die” from his latest album Scream.

There are your updates on this week’s HitPredictor’s. What do y’all think?

Black Keys, Vampire Weekend Duke It Out on Colbert Report

Standard

Lead Singer of Vampire Weekend, Ezra Koenig, and the Black Keys stopped by The Colbert Report last night to assist host, Stephen Colbert with filling out his Grammy ballot. Both bands are in the running for Best Alternative Music Album so Colbert challenged them to a “sell-out-off” where both bands showed off the high profile television ads that featured their songs in 2010.

However, after Colbert determined that both bands “equally whored out” their music, some things got ugly!

Which band do you think should win the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, Vampire Weekend or the Black Keys? Vote for your favorite in the comments!!

The Black Keys Rock ‘SNL’

Standard

The Ohio blues rockers, The Black Keys, which we picked as our feature artist last Friday, were Saturday Night Live’s musical guests of choice this week. To say the least, they rocked the show! Their appearance spiked the ratings for the first show of 2011; SNL’s highest since Betty White was on with Jay-Z back in May.

Singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, backed by a bassist and keyboardist, played “Tighten Up” and “Howlin’ for You,” both off their 2010 release Brothers.

Watch their performance here!

The Black Keys, “Howlin’ For You”

I think the Black Keys are awesome and they are going to have another epic year in 2011. What do you think of this performance, y’all?

A Year In Music 2010: Part 3

Standard

For the last segment of “Year in Music” I wanted to feature a special group who has had a very successful 2010: The Black Keys!

The Black Keys were formed in 2001 in Akron, Ohio. They were in the underground scene while trying to get noticed. Fast forward to 2010 when iTunes has named their latest album “Brothers,” Album of the Year. If that’s not enough, add that the Rolling Stones named the album the No. 2 best album of 2010 and their single “Everlasting Light” as the No. 11 best single of 2010. NPR Listeners picked the Black Keys as the No. 2 Best Music to Listen to in 2010. They have been on tour with Kings of Leon and have racked up 4 2011 GRAMMY nominations. All I have to say is, wow!

We put “Howlin’ For You” in the jukebox a couple weeks ago, and although the test isn’t over, it’s definitely in the top 20 in the alternative category which means YOU guy like them :)

We have “Everlasting Light” in the jukebox for y’all to listen to now. So go check it out!

Do you think The Black Keys will continue to be just as successfull in 2011?! Comment with your thoughts.

Well HP, this is the last post of 2010!!! Thanks to all of our readers for being a part of the HitPredictor family! I hope everyone has a safe and Happy NEW YEAR!!!

Nina’s Weekly Wrap

Standard

Hi out there music raters!! I only have a few songs on my list to talk about this week due to the holidays so here they go. My favorite song this week was “Shake Up Christmas” by Train. It’s a really fun and earthy Christmas song. I’m a big fan of Train and was really happy with this song. I really liked “Perfect” by Pink. I loved how sweet and genuine it was. Although Pink may not always be sweet Pink is always genuine. “Howlin’ for You” by The Black Keys is funky and classic. These guys are great at bringing back the fun and funky sound of the 70’s.  I really enjoyed Ryan Star’s voice in “Unbreak”. It is a really good pop/rock song. The only song I did not like this week was “Santa Gimme Hos” by J Randall. This song is so disrespectful to the holiday and it is not even entertaining. Other than this awful tune it was a pretty good week here at Hitpredictor. Happy rating!!

This is also Nin’a last week blogging with us!! It’s been fun having Nina and DJ Lilly blog with us and they will both be missed. Thanks for your contributions!!

Glee edges Stone Temple Pilots to maintain lead on Billboard 200

Standard

Glee holds onto the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a second straight week with its Glee: The Music, Volume 3 – Showstoppers after moving 63,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It was just enough to edge Stone Temple Pilots from taking the No. 1 slot as their first studio album release (self-titled) moved 62,000 units last week coming in at No. 2. However, the album’s No. 2 slot makes it the group’s sixth top 10 album according to Billboard.com, which comprises the band’s entire collection of studio releases!

As to whether Glee can hold on for a third week – industry experts don’t expect it to thanks to Jack Johnson’s To The Sea, just released this week, which is expected to debut at No. 1 with an expected 250,000 copies sold by the charting week’s end (June 6).

The rest of the Billboard 200 includes:

  • At No. 3, My World 2.0, Justin Bieber, 50,000
  • At No. 4, Need You Now, Lady Antebellum, 46,000
  • At No. 5, Raymond v. Raymond, Usher, 35,000
  • At No. 6, The Fame, Lady Gaga, 31,000
  • At No. 7, Exile on Main St., Rolling Stones, 28,000
  • At No. 8, Brothers, The Black Keys, just over 26,000
  • At No. 9, Live at the Troubadour, James Taylor and Carole King, just under 26,000
  • At No. 10, Distant Relatives, Nas and Damian Marley, 25,000

Were any of these albums on your “to buy” list this week? Or, is the new Jack Johnson on it instead?
