Sara Bareilles tops Billboard 200 with sophomore set “Kaleidoscope Heart”

Sara Bareilles has achieved a personal milestone as she records both her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 AND her best sales week ever as her sophomore record Kaleidoscope Heart kicks off its first week selling 90,000 units according to Nielsen SoundScan. Billboard reports that her debut album Little Voice peaked at No. 7 back in 2008.

Billboard stated that in general it was a slow week for album sales – in fact the slowest since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991! Expected entries to the chart in coming weeks include Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns which went on sale yesterday, as well as Trey Songz’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure.

The rest of the Billboard 200 top 10 this week includes:

  • At No. 3, Now That’s What I Call Music vol. 35, compilation, 63,000
  • At No. 4, Teenage Dream, Katy Perry, 59,000
