Kid Rock plans action-packed summer

Standard

Kid Rock is gearing up for some major PR before he is set to release a new album this fall. The Michigan native, currently finishing his first Chillin’ The Most Cruise, has a summer packed full of appearances and performances.

Rock has just been announced as the host of this year’s CMT Music Awards, scheduled to air live on June 9 from Nashville. Billboard.com reports that Rock posted on his Web site: “All I can promise is I will be awesome.” The rocker has had several hits cross over onto the country charts including “Picture” and “All Summer Long.”

And although his album isn’t scheduled to drop until the Fall, Rock will begin dropping new music this month. According to Billboard, Rock has a guest appearance on Slash’s self-titled solo album with the song “I Hold On,” in addition to an appearance on a new version of “It’s Good To Be Me” from Uncle Kracker’s latest album “Happy Hour” which is due out in the next couple weeks.

Billboard also reports that Rock is taking part in a unique promotion with his sponsor, Jim Beam Bourbon, and offering a download of a new song, “Times Like These,” as well as a six-song digital live EP from his July 2009 home town stadium shows at Detroit’s Comerica Park.

The report states the downloads will be available with the purchase of special edition gift cartons of Jim Beam or the cherry-flavored Red Stag by Jim Beam, beginning next month. The live tracks include “Rock N Roll Jesus,” “All Summer Long,” “Amen,” “Picture,” “So Hott” and “Bawitdaba.” The gift cartons will also promote donations for Operation Homefront, a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial and morale assistance to U.S. military personnel and their families.

Billboard reports that Rock has been working on the follow-up to 2007’s triple-platinum “Rock N Roll Jesus” since early 2009.  Besides “Times Like These,” Rock has mentioned songs such as “One Woman Man,” “The Midwest Fall” and “Care” with a guest appearance by rapper T.I. may be included in the new release, expected in early September. Lil Wayne also cut a track at Rock’s home studio, and he’s mentioned covering Alabama’s “Mountain Song” as well as possible guest appearances by Bob Seger, Metallica’s James Hetfield and country stalwarts George Strait and Merle Haggard.

And, as if that weren’t enough, Rock will stay busy this summer opening tour dates for Bon Jovi in North America in addition to festival appearances across the country.

Are you looking forward to nearing new work from Kid Rock?
