Foster The People’s New Single ‘Helena Beat’

Standard

Foster The People, a Los Angeles, CA based band that formed in 2009 was introduced through their performances at South by Southwest in Austin, TX. We introduced their first single “Pumped Up Kicks” to you before you could hear it anywhere else and now we are bringing you their brand new track, “Helena Beat.”

Frontman Mark Foster brings his best vocals forward with high pitches and the beats, just like the song’s title suggests, are insane.

Listen to Foster The People’s “Helena Beat” in the jukebox right now and rate it so we know what you think!

Extra: Watch their Jimmy Kimmel Live performance of “Helena Beat.”

Brad Paisley Grabs No. 2 on Billboard 200 as Everyone Bows to Lady Gaga

Standard

As previously reported, Lady Gaga sold 1.11 million copies of “Born This Way” and thus achieved the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. No surprise there.

What is quite a surprise is that Country star, Brad Paisley scored the No. 2 slot with the debut of his “This Is Country Music” album selling 153,000 copies. It’s Paisley’s third album to land at No. 2, following “Time Well Wasted” (2005) and “American Saturday Night” (2009). He can perhaps be happy with No. 1 on the Country Albums chart, though.

The past weeks have seen the same person at number one for quite some time, but Adele’s “21” got pushed all the way to No. 3 with 126,000 sold.

The rest of the Top 10:

  • No. 4 – “Glee, the Music: Season Two, Volume 6”
  • No. 5 – “Maybach Music Group Presents Self Made Vol. 1”
  • No. 6 – “Now 38”
  • No. 7 – The New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys compilation/collaboration album “NKOTBSB”
  • No. 8 – Foster The People’s “Torches”
  • No. 9 – Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party”
  • No. 10 – Mumford & Sons’ “Sigh No More”

New Band Alert: Foster The People

Standard

Foster The People: This LA band is made up of Mark Foster (keyboards, guitar, lead vocals), Zach “Reazon” Heiligman (MPC), Mark Pontius (drums), Cubbie Fink (bass, backing vocals), and we want to let y’all know about them before they get super popular, because they are going to.

The band formed in Autumn 2009 and already have a strong following. Their first single “Pumped Up Kicks” is an ‘alternative summer anthem’ if we’ve ever heard one. It is sure to be hummed and sung in the heads of festival-goers, skateboarders, and convertible drivers alike. The song was actually recorded using some muffling devices and the verses aren’t that easy to make out and the chorus doesn’t make that much sense saying, “All the other kids with the pumped-up kicks/You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.” For some reason, the song just sticks though, and we love it.

Wondering if you will like them too? They are similar to MGMT, Phoenix, the Feeling, Peter Bjorn and John.

Check out their single “Pumped Up Kicks” in the jukebox now and let us know what you think!

And… this just in, they were added to the Coachella line-up, AND their self titled EP is available on iTunes and Amazon now.

What do you think of Foster The People? Will you be rocking to them come summer-time?
