Given 13 total nominations at last night’s MTV VMAs, Lady Gaga walked away with a whopping eight moonmen awards and also revealed the title of her new album, and a few verses from a new song.

There’s no doubt the pop star dominated the stage for award collection with the eight coming in the categories of video of the year, best female video, best pop video, best dance video, best collaboration, best choreography, best editing, and best direction.

With her acceptance of video of the year Gaga announced that her upcoming album will be called Born This Way, before belting out a few bars from a new song.

If Gaga wouldn’t have been the talk of the show for her large number of wins, certainly her outfits would have garnered their own attention. One of her outfits included a dress made out of meat with a matching meat hat and meat purse.

After Gaga Eminem was the next big winner with two awards for best male video and best hip-hop video for “Not Afraid.” The Detroit-based rapper also kicked off the ceremony with a performance of “Not Afraid” and “Love The Way You Lie” bringing Rihanna out on stage.  However, by the time his wins were announced Em was already en route to NYC for the last two “Home and Home” shows with Jay-Z which are tonight and tomorrow at Yankee Stadium.

Other winners from last night’s VMA awards include Justin Bieber who won the best new artist award; 30 Seconds To Mars, who won best rock video for “Kings and Queens”; Florence and the Machine who won best art direction for “Dog Days Are Over”; Jay-Z and Alicia Keys earned the best cinematography moonman for “Empire State of Mind” while Muse won the best special effects for “Uprising”; the Black Keys won breakthrough for “Tighten Up”; and Beyonce shared in a best collaboration win with Gaga for “Telephone.”

Other performers last night were Justin Bieber, Usher, Taylor Swift, B.o.B and Hayley Williams, and Kanye West. Swift debuted a new song called “Forgiveness” that was an offer of encouragement to West in light of the incident at last year’s VMAs, before West closed out the awards show with a new song of his own called “Runaway.”

What do you think was the highlight of last night’s VMAs?

Why do they even have a video music awards show on MTV anymore. They arent a music video channel anymore. They are a reality TV shows channel now (& has been for the last 10-16 yrs). Anyways was there any highlights for me? If I am being 100% honest… NO not really. The most close thing I could say to being a highlight would be maybe the Lohan/Chelsea skit.
