Adele is Back on Top of Billboard 200

Standard

Adele returns to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the tenth non-consecutive week in a row selling 114,000 copies and pushing Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” to No. 2. This is no surprise though.

The big news this week comes in at No. 3. The original Broadway cast recording of “The Book of Mormon” comes roaring back in with 61,000 sold (up 2,116%) following the show’s nine Tony Award wins on Sunday, June 12. It is the highest charting Broadway cast album — and first top 10 — since 1969, when “Hair” spent 13 straight weeks at No. 1.

Billboard reports that “Mormon” owns the largest sales week for any cast album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The previous best sales week for a cast set belonged to the original London cast recording of “Phantom of the Opera” (Highlights), which sold 54,000 over the Christmas week of 1992.

The remainder of the top 10:

  • No. 4 – Tech N9ne’s “All 6’s & 7’s”
  • No. 5 – Ronnie Dunn’s “Ronnie Dunn”
  • No. 6 – All Time Low’s “Dirty Work”
  • No. 7 – Jason Aldean’s “My Kind Of Party”
  • No. 8 – Brad Paisley “This Is Country Music”
  • No. 9 – “Now 38”
  • No. 10 – Death Cab for Cutie’s “Codes and Keys”
