Scotty McCreery Denies Romance Between him and Lauren Alaina
Lauren and Scotty had a pretty long embrace that included a kiss right after McCreery was announced the new “American Idol.” Scotty spoke with Billboard.com about how they are just friends and the whole thing was planned.
“Oh, no. We’ve been getting that question a lot today. Me and her, it’s more like the brother-sister thing. She told me before the show yesterday that she was gonna do that, kind of like a joke. She’s a character. But she’s lovely, we’re really close friends. I met her day one of Hollywood Week, and we were schoolmates through this whole experience.”
Pia Toscano Working on ‘Diva’ Album
Now that season 10 of “American Idol” is over word is out that Pia Toscano is already working on her debut album and it promises to be diva-sized, according to producer Rodney Jerkins. Jerkins says he was in the studio with Toscano as recently as Saturday and that she’s already recorded “a few songs.” The sound? “It’s a big, diva-sounding record,” he describes. “It’s what I think I do best – that big Whitney, Mariah, Celine vibe. We’ve having fun with that.” ( The Hollywood Reporter)
Lee DeWyze Not Invited to Perform on ‘Idol’ Finale
Among the star-studded performances during the “American Idol,” one face was noticeably missing — season 9 champ Lee DeWyze. Following the show, though, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe took to Twitter to make clear that he had, in fact, asked DeWyze to join in the fun. “I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winner’s trophy to Scotty,” he wrote. “Especially as he’d been on the show this season. I guess he was shy.” The singer also jumped of Twitter to air his side of the story in one ‘large-size’ message.
“Hey everyone, first off I want to say congrats to Scotty & Lauren, awesome job,” Lee began. “Well done, Scotty! Secondly, just for the record… I was not asked to be involved in the finale. It wasn’t until about 2 minutes before they announced that Nigel had approached me and asked if he could ‘borrow’ me for a second.
“I didn’t feel a last second jump onstage was appropriate,” he continued. “It was Scotty’s moment. I appreciate ‘American Idol,’ and the opportunity it has given me. And the people who have made that show possible. I am not angry, or bitter etc. It was an amazing finale, and I would have loved to be a part of it. I just wasn’t asked.”
