‘American Idol’ Finale Recap

Standard

Tonight the youngest two finale contestants in “American Idol” history duked it out in all their Southern-fried glory. However, Scotty McCreery, 17 and Lauren Alaina, 16 showed no signs of nervousness as they crooned their way to Country victory.

Scotty McCreery sang:

  1. “Gone” by Montgomery Gentry
  2. “Check Yes or No” by George Strait
  3. “I Love You This Big” by Scotty McCreery
I thought Scotty was the picture of perfection tonight. He was confident and calm, clean and professional. The last song “Love You This Big” is the single Scotty will release, should he win.
Lauren Alaina, sprained vocal chord and all, sang:

  1.  “Flat on the Floor” by Carrie Underwood
  2. “Maybe It Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis
  3. “Like My Mother Does” by Lauren Alaina
Taking out the fact that poor little Lauren has a sprained vocal chord, I thought she was pretty dang good! She excelled with “Maybe It Was Memphis” and got all the mom votes with her new single “Like My Mother Does.” Sure she may have stumbled a few times, but she did the best she could do with her situation and I was surprised at the amount of confidence she showed. Alaina has grown so much since the beginning and that’s really what matters. The winner (in my opinion, of course): Scotty McCreery!

Make sure to tune in to “American Idol” tonight to see this season’s top 13 perform, as well as judge Steven Tyler and a number of yet-unannounced special guests and to see if Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina will be the new American Idol!

Sound off: Who will be the next American Idol?!

  1. I love both of these kids and will be happy with either one of them winning.

    Both will have great careers!

Scotty has been a long time favorite, which he deserves, but I voted for Lauren last night. Just to close the gap a bit so Ryan won’t embarrass her when/if he announces the difference in votes. lol

She also earned my vote though with her performances. But I really feel that Scotty will take the American Idol crown.
