Paula Abdul Set to Judge U.S. ‘X Factor’

Everyone’s favorite reality TV couple is back! Sunday evening it was announced that Paula Abdul has taken the position to judge Simon Cowell’s U.S. version of “The X Factor.” A singing competition show that is very popular in the U.K. The two other judges are former music executive Antonio “L.A.” Reid and British singer and U.K. “X Factor” judge Cheryl Cole, along with Cowell, of course.

“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this — I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” said Cowell as he announced that Abdul was officially on the show.

The news does not come as a surprise to many as it has been rumored for weeks now. Abdul kept everyone guessing though, because her contract was not signed until the moment before she took the stage for the first round of auditions.

“I am excited beyond words to be a part of the ‘X Factor.’ I couldn’t be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show,” said Abdul in the announcement. “[I] know that it will be an extraordinary journey — we’re going to have a blast. I’m also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again … but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!”

The show also revealed that it’s co-hosts would be former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and British TV personality Steve Jones.

The show is slated to launch in the fall as auditions are being held now across the country. The next open audition is in Dallas, TX. on May 26.
