In just two weeks, this couple (Nick and Amy) who call themselves Karmin have racked up 6 million YouTube viewers for their cover of Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now” ft. Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne.
They are on to bigger and better things though. They premiered their next cover, Lil Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot” on RyanSeacrest.com this morning.
The song, which samples Harry Belafonte‘s “Day-O,” is the lead single from Lil Wayne’s ninth studio album, Tha Carter IV and given a softer twist with the melodic vocals of Karmin. Watch them perform it below and be sure to check their YouTube channel in the coming days for the full version reports Seacrest.
Their manager suggested they try out “Look At Me Now” and they thought he was crazy. But boy, were they wrong. Just from that one tune, producers of all kinds including Timbaland, RedOne, and Alex Da Kid are reaching out to work with them and there is even a record deal in the works.
The on and off-camera couple also told Seacrest of their engagement and plans for their wedding. “We didn’t really tell the whole social world — Facebook and everything — until last month. We became engaged in December, but it’ll actually be six years that we’ve been together this September,” said Nick. They will tie the know on September 10 in Amy’s childhood backyard with a “Forrest-Gump style” wedding.
What do you think of Karmin y’all?!
