The 46th Academy of Country Music Awards aired last night on CBS from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There was a healthy dose of glitter and glitz – if you can’t wear bedazzled cowboy boots in Vegas, where can you wear them? Several pop stars also stopped by for the event. Here’s the scoop:
Taylor Swift won Entertainer of the Year. The fans voted for the winner of the award presented by Ryan Seacrest who deemed the night “great for American music.” Swift is the youngest star at 21 to win the award.
Other big winners of the night included Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, and Miranda Lambert. The Grammy winning Lady A took home Top Vocal Group and Album of the Year for Need You Now, while the Band Perry snagged Best New Artist. Miranda Lambert won 4 awards! Best Female Vocalist, as well as Single, Song and Video of the Year honors for her tune “The House That Built Me.”
Steven Tyler was also representing for “Idol” by starring in a duet with Carrie Underwood. The two sang her track “Undo It” and Aerosmith’s hit “Walk This Way.” James Taylor also showed up to collaborate with Zac Brown Band. Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon also presented an award to promote their new movie Water for Elephants and all us southerners cringed as Pattinson tried to say “y’all.” The winner of the award that Pattinson and Witherspoon presented, Miranda Lambert, made sure to correct the Brit by joking, “we say how are y’all?” before dolling out thanks for her award.
I was very entertained by the performance-heavy show! Did you watch?!
