Trick-or-treat hidden song contest winners!

Standard

Thanks to everyone that took part in our trick-or-treat Halloween inspired hidden song contest this week! We had two special treat tracks in the contest that were worth 50 points apiece (double the normal 25) giving those of you who found them an extra treat!

The 50-point bonus treat tracks were Taryn Manning’s “Spotlight” and “That’s Important To Me” by Joey+Rory. The other two hidden tracks – The Ready Set’s “Stays Four The Same” and Christen Kane’s “The House Rules” were worth the normal 25-point reward.

So, every HitPredictor member that correctly reported their hidden song finds by the 3 p.m. EDT deadline today was given the appropriate reward for the songs they reported and an entry for each song’s 250 point bonus drawing!

A big congratulations to this week’s winners of the 250-point giveaways. Those lucky winners were HitPredictor members StarDust93M, KGNine, collinhollon, and now_waitaminute.

This week we had so many good nominations that we will have a Taylor Swift special starting tomorrow, in addition to four brand new members’ tracks in the jukebox ready for you to rate. So make sure to check back and find out what the new songs will be, and give us your feedback on them! After all, these tracks were nominated because someone out there thought they had the potential to be a hit, and we want to know if you agree!

Let’s get ready for next week! We need your nominations! Remember, if we use your song, whether it’s in the hidden song contest, or add it to the jukebox as a members’ pick just because we want to test whether it has hit potential, you will earn a 25-point reward! So, keeping that in mind what do you think deserves some jukebox time? A new track from your favorite artist or something you heard in passing on the radio? You can submit your suggestions here on our Facebook page, or e-mail me directly at maijaliisa [at] hitpredictor.com!

Please submit your top two picks only and make them the best ones you know!

Far East Movement retains No. 1 position; Taylor Swift sets new record on charts

Standard

The Far East Movement notches its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like a G6,” continuing to open its lead on Bruno Mars’ former No. 1 “Just The Way You Are.”

However, the big news of the week on the Hot 100 is the record-setting Taylor Swift. Billboard reports the country star is the first artist to take the title of top debut in three successive weeks as her latest single “Mean” starts at No. 11, following the debuts of “Speak Now” and “Back to December” which started at No. 8 and No. 6 respectively. This feat follows the record Swift set last week for being the first artist to post back-to-back top 10 debuts last week – all of this on top of speculation her album Speak Now will sell anywhere between 800,000 and 1,000,000 copies in its debut week!

The rest of the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 includes:

  • At No. 2, “Just The Way You Are,” Bruno Mars
  • At No. 3, “Only Girl (In The World),” Rihanna
  • At No. 4, “Just A Dream,” Nelly
  • At No. 5, “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love,” Usher feat. Pitbull
  • At No. 6, “Bottoms Up,” Trey Songz
  • At No. 7, “Teenage Dream,” Katy Perry
  • At No. 8, “Dynamite,” Taio Cruz
  • At No. 9, “Club Can’t Handle Me,” Flo Rida feat. David Guetta
  • At No. 10, “Raise Your Glass,” Pink

Do you have any of these tracks on heavy rotation on your MP3 player?

Standard

Mariah Carey has confirmed she is pregnant.

MTV reports the 41-year-old singer put all the speculation to rest during a pre-taped interview that aired on the “Today” show Thursday morning (Oct. 28).

In the interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush, Carey said “Well, we’re here in New York; yes, we are pregnant.  This is true,” before opening up about her struggle to get pregnant.

She said she and husband Nick Cannon have been careful talking publicly about the pregnancy since she suffered a miscarriage two years ago. She said “Actually, it was it was difficult. It really was. [When I had the miscarriage,] it was really sad. We had really to absorb this and take it in.”

Reflecting on that miscarriage in light of her joy today Carey said: “I’m actually dealing with this, and it’s been a long journey but it’s been tough.”

In an attempt to maintain some privacy Carey revealed few details about her current pregnancy only saying “Well, it’s still early. We’re expecting in the spring.”

Cannon said: “It’s absolutely emotional, but for so many reasons … the greatest gift on earth is a child.”
