New picks from our members – do you think any have hit potential?

Standard

Thanks to all the excellent nominations this week, we have some new tracks we just uploaded into the jukebox this morning, because we think our members may have some great ideas on new tracks with big hit potential! Among the artists we want your feedback on are 3OH!3, Jewel, KaraMel, K’naan, and Superchick. So check these tracks out and let us know whether you think any of these picks from our members have hit potential!

HitPredictor member mizery009 wanted to hear 3OH3!’s “Love 2012” in the HitPredictor jukebox this week. This track is from the Boulder, Colorado-based electronic duo’s third album Streets of Gold, which was released earlier this summer. We want to know if you think “Love 2012” has the chops to stand on its own as a potential single from the album that could be a charting radio hit, so have a listen and let us know!

Jewel’s “No Good in Goodbye” is a song that has been popping up on our nominations list for a few weeks on and off again (and from different members), so when MARTHAM suggested it again this week we knew we needed to have a listen! This track is from Jewel’s most recent (and ninth) studio album Sweet and Wild and was the third track to get a music video! What do you think of this track?

Superchick is “still here, still fighting on” in their new single “Still Here” from the remix album Reinvention, as one of three new tracks from the recently overhauled group. Nominated by HitPredictor member DreamChaser, this power rock song is actually an inspirational Christian rock song in disguise! Do you think this track is worthy of radio airplay – is it something you want to hear again? Let us know with your vote!

Although international hip-hop artist K’naan has been around for a while, he really rose to fame after his single “Wavin’ Flag” shot to the top with the 2010 FIFA World Cup . Because of the surge in his popularity K’naan released “Bang Bang,” a single from his Feb. 2009 studio album Troubadour which features the vocals of Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. HitPredictor member tiffnic06 is a big fan of this song and we want to know where you stand – is this a track you still want to hear?

“Underwear” is an unabashed pop song by KaraMel (members Kara & Mel) that was nominated by HitPredictor member xvintagehearts. This  track is a promo single for the group – which they say is meant to be played while you dance along in your underwear – and which they demonstrate in the debut video as well!  Do you think this track is fun enough to do just that? Let us know with your vote at HitPredictor!

Check all of these tracks out in your HitPredictor jukebox now and let us know whether you think any of our members’ picks are potential hits!

Prince announces upcoming ‘Welcome 2 America’ tour

Standard

Yesterday, Prince announced (some) details of an upcoming “Welcome 2 America” tour that will begin in December.

The announcement – less than 2 minutes long – came from the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Addressing the crowd Prince said “Welcome, we’re here in New York to announce a series of events that will begin on a purple day in December 2010.”

Apparently, Prince will play master of ceremonies for the shows which will also feature funk, R&B and jazz artists including Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E., Cassandra Wilson and Graham Central Station.

Prince encouraged the crowd to “Come early, come often. I have a lot of hits,” promising that “no two shows will be the same.”

No information on dates, venues, or ticket information was provided.

“Bring your friends, bring your children,” Prince told the audience, “and bring foot spray, because it’s going to be funky.”

Are you excited to learn more about Prince’s “Welcome 2 America” tour?

Do Lee DeWyze & Ke$ha have hits with their new singles? You tell us!

Standard

We have two brand new, just-released singles in the HitPredictor jukebox that we want your feedback on! So have a listen and tell us what you think of Lee DeWyze’s “Sweet Serendipity,” and Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” – do you think either of these new singles will be hits?

Lee DeWyze

DeWyze first debuted the new single on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Wednesday. “Sweet Serendipity” is the lead single from his upcoming album Live It Up, scheduled to his stores Nov. 16. This single seems to be a slight departure from the gruff vocalist American voted as the season 9 champion on Idol, as it has a much more polished finish.

MTV said of the single: “‘Serendipity’ represents a shift from the sound of his first two indie albums, 2007′s So I’m Told and ’09′s Slumberland; instead, it’s very much a Hot A.C.-leaning tune in the same vein as radio smashes like Jason Mraz’s ‘I’m Yours’ or Train’s ‘Hey Soul Sister.’”

So we want you to tell us if you think DeWyze is starting off on the right foot with “Sweet Serendipity” as his first single, and whether you think it has the potential to be a charting radio hit!

Ke$ha

Ke$ha’s new single just hit the airwaves yesterday, the day after she announced a new album, Cannibal, will drop Nov. 22 as a nine-song “companion” to her debut album Animal.

In a prepared statement Ke$ha said of her new album: “This year has been carnivorous and life-changing. I have my rowdy, gorgeous fans to thank for taking me on the ride of a lifetime. My only goal with this record is to keep them dancing. The songs on Cannibal were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically. It’s the perfect companion toAnimal and I hope you guys like it. And if you don’t like it — bite me.”

So we want to know if you think we’ll see more Ke$ha on the Billboard Hot 100 with “We R Who We R” – do you think this track has the potential to be another hit for the pop star?
